On the Train – After Lotusphere
Monday, February 3rd, 2003Well, it’s Monday morning and I’m on the train back into work. I think I might miss Florida … ewwww …
I put the final post up for Lotusphere. On the whole the trip was pretty much a success. The only really bad thing about it was that I effectively learned that within the next five years I’ll need to learn a new back-end, in the form of WebSphere and DB2. I’m going to touch on the highlights of the trip …
- Going to Universal’s Islands of Adventure and heading to Marvel Super Hero Island. WOW. That’s a point all in it’s own.
- Riding the Hulk Coaster twice, the SpiderMan ride and the Doctor Doom Towers of Fear all within 30 minutes. And all before 10am. In case you were wondering, yes my stomach didn’t handle that very well.
- Going on the Jaws ride over at Universal Studios Orlando.
- Watching the T2 – 3D Battle Across Time feature at Universal. Awesome.
- Having Rudolph Guiliani as the keynote speaker for the Opening Session.
- Realizing that I’m not alone as a Big Notes Geek, and being treated to a setup worthy of a rock show. Well, maybe a Backstreet Boys show …
- Having my faith reaffirmed by the features and fixes implemented in Notes and Domino 6.
- It’s a Hard Life – A Bug’s Life 3D tale at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Watch out for the hornets …
- Having the entire Magic Kingdom just for Lotusphere participants on Wednesday night. Which meant …
- Going on the Buzz Lightyear shoot-em ‘up ride several times without any lineups.
But the best thing I can take away from the entire trip?
Being the lone grown up in a line full of 8 and 10 year olds waiting to have your picture taken with Buzz and Woody. Then, telling Woody to scram because I wanted to get my picture taken with the man …
That one will end up on the site … : )
