What to tell, what to tell …

Monday, August 26th, 2002

First and foremost … I’m loving the fact that Er and I are going away in two weeks. I’m loving the fact that we’re going to Hawaii. I’m loving the fact that I get to go and golf in Hawaii. Not trying to brag or gloat, but just the two of us have been waiting TOOOOO long for a fun trip for just the two of us …

Oops. Meet My Folks just showed the boys having to do a sperm test. Heh heh heh … bet they never thought they signed up for that …

Moonbase Commander … go get it. If you ever played Scorched Earth, get this game. At $25 CDN, it’s a steal.

Erika always wants me to talk about funny things. Gives her something to do during the day. So with that …

Football starts next Thursday. It’s time for every Sunday for the next 17 weeks and beyond to get swallowed up on the couch. What’s funny about that? Not much according to Erika. I think that calls for a Bubba of Beer

I know you’re watching

Monday, August 19th, 2002

OK, I know that some of you have been watching that new reality show, Meet the Folks … and tonight, they turned the tables around …

For those of you not in the know, up until now the premise has been that three young STUDS come in and try and romance a daddy’s little girl out from right under daddy’s nose. Winner gets to take innocent little daughter to Hawaii … It’s been pretty good because the producers do all kind of stuff to make the guys look like the fools that they are …

The entire time I’ve been watching I’ve been mumbling to myself and to Erika … ‘How the hell could they do this with a son instead of a daughter? What kind of lame ass would they have to find that would let his parents decide on who he could date?’

Question answered. Given the three little bimbos are little beauty queens, but this guy was a complete loser. I could see why he needed to hook up with a syndicated television show to get some play. I’m waiting for the lie detector test … Instead of ‘Will you sleep with my son in Hawaii’ … I’m hoping they’ll ask ‘Are those real?’

Got some stuff working …

Hoo boy … getting back into the geeky side of things here …

The crew at Marsh is just trying to roll out their VPN solution, so I’m trying to get my laptop to work better here at home. Which includes setting up my very first DHCP server. It’s a tiny little program from a company called Weird Solutions and it’s not bad! Beats the hell out of resetting my IP address every night.

So hopefully this means more posts … I can hear those of you in the back groaning … back off, will ya?

This heat wave that we’re going through is absolutely killer. The temperatures aren’t that hot but the humidity is deadly! What’s making it even more fun is going through it with Erika. Having an argument at 5 am over whether or not I grabbed the wrong corner of the sheets and screwed them up (yes, the sheets were still ON ME at the time) is a ton of fun, let me tell you!

To make matters worse, the two of us have to start looking for a new place to hang our hats. We’re going to try for the first of the three M’s (mortgage, marriage, maternity) but it’s not looking to good. Well, keep the chin up and a happy thought and … and … keep … the pickle … out of ………….

… never mind …

I’m writing this under gun point

Monday, August 12th, 2002

OK, so I was told by my Erika to write a post to entertain her otherwise she would take something away from me for a MONTH! Not hot passionate nights for a month! So I’m writing this so that I don’t go one more aching night … without my PlayStation …

Ummm … do you like … stuff? (Lisa, that one’s for you … although you probably never come here … something about no posts …)

Could have sworn that I mentioned this before, but the World Beer Games was on again tonight. There’s just something patriotic about watching the home town CANADIAN boys slug back 8 beers, in succession, in under 20 seconds, WITHOUT SPILLING A DROP! Sorry, there’s a tear in my beer … best part? They were complaining during the prelims that they couldn’t have a couple while they were waiting … : )

Er and I are going to Hawaii. September. I am currently going to a tanning salon so that once I get off the plane I don’t turn into a 5’10" lobster. I would like to be able to venture forth and see the island (Oahu) with the ability to move my limbs …

Last week they had a celebration to honour Pat Gillick down at the Sky Dome. For those of you not in the know, Pat was the first GM of the Toronto Blue Jays, and was the pivotal player in bringing back to back world series to my home town. Granted he moved on to Baltimore and Seattle, but he did bring this town the best baseball we have ever seen. The highlight was seeing all of my old favourites out in TO again. Jack Morris, Candy Maldonado, Devon White, Juan Guzman … I don’t care what these guys went on to do after TO, they were truly spectacular to me at a time when I was looking for heroes … (almost got misty there thinking about 92 … snifff) … the truly tragic thing is that today they were discussing the tentative date for the second strike in a decade … enjoy baseball while you can kids, it may not be around for much longer … not even MasterCard commercials can save it …

Well I’m going to go watch some Raw now. Triple H is on … and he is THAT DAMNED GOOD! Gotta go! L8R!

Weird things man …

OK I’m currently sitting here at the computer writing this post for one reason and one reason alone … Erika is now a video game junkie. I s**t you not.

Here was my ploy. I pick up the PS2. I get a game which Erika might play every now and then, just to ease the crap that I will inevitably take for buying this thing. I pick up Virtua Fighter 4. A good title in it’s own right. However, Erika is now hooked. Every time we come home from going out the first words out of her mouth are “I wanna fight”. That’s not the truly scary part …

… She’s actually getting better than me … brrrrr …

Went out to see Minority Report. Not too good, not too bad. One part in the movie which wasn’t meant to be funny got me to thinking. It’s a part where Mr. Cruise has to … have a bite to eat … I couldn’t think of either why this scene was in the movie, or what it reminded me of. Then it struck me. Count Floyd! Those not familiar with Joe Flaherty’s character off SCTV should just bear with me here when I say …

HoooWOooooWOOoooWOooo … scary stuff, eh kids! Look, it’s sour milk in 3-D!

Did I mention? New Daredevil trailer is out. Go and see … ‘Nuff said.

Although I don’t have much to talk about

I’m still going to post. No point in wasting good computer time, right?

I’m up to my eyeballs in Marsh. Not as in the swamp land, but rather as in the career. It’s still refreshing to get to do this stuff every day. I don’t think the luster has gone out of it yet for me and I hope that it never will. I still get a twinkle in my eye whenever I hear about a new piece of hardware. Like the new Nokia Communicator

I don’t know when it happened but I’ve really fallen out of love with baseball. It used to be my number one sport. Now I’m just dying for football season to start. No you European types, I mean the one with the pointed ball. I’m already working on my pool database. Those who know me realize this is a labour of love which I seem to undertake every year. However, this year with the development stuff I was doing at IBM, I may actually get a working model up and running …

Alright. That should keep me happy for a bit. Until later …

Rooby rooby doo!!!!

Was not as good as you might think.

They did a good job of catering to both the kiddie crowd and to the nostalgia crowd, however I think in doing so they might have thinned the movie a little too much. It was kind of like drinking a Coke which has been out on the counter for a day. It still sugary sweet, just not as exciting as your remembered. Matthew Lillard does make an awesome Shaggy though, and there are enough ‘substance’ references to keep me grinning …

I just picked up Er the entire second season of Buffy on DVD. My god, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many DVD’s thrown together. I’ve started trying to go through all of them but there’s just so many! Buffy’s all that though … (my god … I’ve been brainwashed!)

Let’s see … Dad’s day weekend. Going up to see the family tomorrow. Should be fun. Erika is taking off out of town for a couple of days which means … uninterrupted PS2 time … yeah baby!

Only two weekends before we head down to Windsor collectively … can’t wait. There’s a giant Italian I’ve been meaning to give a swift kick in the ass to …

What to Talk About?

Thursday, June 6th, 2002

I’ll high level most of this …

Star Wars … bad … Spiderman … been to see it three times … so far …

Work is going surprisingly well. I’m really starting to settle in and work is still enjoyable. I know a point will come where I get frustrated and want to throw my monitor out the 16th floor window, but hey …

Still don’t want to talk about my Leafs. Only two more months until preseason starts for my Dolphins.

My sister and mother managed to drown a VCR. Good thing I’ve got a spare one so they can find new ways to torture a VCR … (leave it in front of a record player and tell it THAT’s it’s fate?) …

Still need to figure out a way for this to be updated from a web interface. Till then, I’ll keep trying to post when I can.

I’m in mourning

I don’t want to talk about it …

I’ve been enjoying being back in my home town, watching my home town boys go through the playoffs … only to have them lose last night.

At least now I’ll have time to play with my brand new PlayStation 2. It’s the little things …

New York New York

Sunday, May 19th, 2002

Well, it’s the May 2-4 weekend. For those of you outside of Canada, you need at least two of those to get through these three days. 2-4′s that is …

However I spent Friday and a bit of Saturday down in the land of America. Specifically, NY. The first time I went there I was impressed. REALLY impressed. Now not so much. Maybe it’s because I’m back in my hometown of TO but it just seemed really dirty down there. Didn’t enjoy myself nearly as much as the last time.

Speaking of hometown, the boys are in the semis! But they got their asses handed to them by Carolina today. Ah well. We’ll sweep at home.

Finally, the only reason I’m posting right now is because I am trapped in the spare room while my Er watches the Celine comeback special. There’s only so much of that lady I can take before my eyeballs start to melt and my brain explodes sending little grey bits out my ears …

No I have not been to see Star Wars yet. I might tomorrow. I’m still hanging on to the belief that it won’t be that good.

Peace. Out. Go Leafs Go.
